Visceral stuff, Dr. Phinney. The Refiner's Fire is always at work in each of us, not fun or enjoyable but needed as we walk along our narrow path. I take comfort from the many Psalms that David poured out, ranting before Papa God, admitting his sins and asking for help. The narrow path is tough, very very tough and not one of us walks it without a fall into the ditch, sometimes regularly (looking at you, Wendy Elizabeth Williams...). Fortunately, God has mercy on us when we sincerely repent and helps us up from the ditch, to walk another day. Thank you for this strong reminder, Dr. Phinney.

Wendy, as both of us know, taking the high road is costly, but it gains the highest rewards on Heaven's side. Well said, sister.

Thank you, Dr. Phinney, you have great gifts and a great heart. As King David said, "I would rather be a door keep in the house of God than dwell in the tents of wickedness." Glory will come and we will have Eternity to worship God and His Son and fellowship for Eternity with all the saints and angels! I so look forward to that day.

We've developed a hierarchy of sin that is 180 degrees from what Jesus taught!

" For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5

Love it! Stephanie, thanks for being "great" in the Lord. Thank God we are the righteousness of Christ.

Amen to that!

It seems that Satan is the inventor of lies, the father of them, and those who lie are his children:

Your father is the devil. You belong to him. You want to do what he wants. He was a murderer from the beginning. He was always against the truth. There is no truth in him. He is like the lies he tells. Yes, the devil is a liar. He is the father of lies.

(John 8:44)

I certainly agree with your comment. I am curious, are you directing this passage to me or is this a generalized response to the article?

this is a quote from scripture. It is the ERV version which is maybe not as familiar, and yes it is very direct!

Here it is in context and the KJV:

Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

(Joh 8:42-44)

Well, I love this passage - harsh but true for all of us who forget that the Father and the Son are one because the Spirit of God lives inside Jesus's mortal body. Anyone who renounces this TRUTH is of their father the devil. Ouch! Thanks for sharing this verse.
