Stephen, I always believed that Scripture taught that payment for our sins was accomplished on the cross when Jesus said “It is finished” whereby then He then entered Hades for the purpose of rescuing the souls of the righteous. 1 Peter 3:19. Where does it say He fulfilled the payment mission of sin specifically in Hades? I just want to make sure I’m not missing something. Great article Stephen!👏
Agreed. The cost of redemption was He had to die. However, a part of that price is He had to become sin on our behalf. When He died, He was in that sin ladened condition. He was not restored to His perfect resurrected condition until the moment He was resurrected, which was at the end of the three days. Agreed. We don't know what the details are in Him descending to the lower parts, we do know that the third Heaven (Paradise) and the lower parts are two different places (2 Cor. 12:2-4). In the lower parts, we know Jesus had to face the domain of darkness, Satan's kingdom before being transferred into His resurrected body (Eph. 4:9 KJV).
Old Testament righteous souls were not put in Hades, they were placed in Paradise. Hades is where the punishment for sins occurs. Since the scriptures are clear that He descended to the lower parts, which is noted as the "pit," not Paradise, we can further note that He gathered up the Old Testament Saints who were in Paradise, before coming out of the tomb. Since the man Paul was referencing in 2 Corinthians 12: 1-4 finished with "How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter," debating the details of what Jesus had to face in the lower parts and the actions taken in Paradise becomes dangerous. I hope I didn't step over that line.
Bottomline for me is, I include the payment for sins from the moment God turned His face away from His Son (My God, My God, why has thou forsaken Me) to arriving in His resurrected Body. All apart of the package deal for payment required.

It’s very complicated.
Say, I didn't get the email you mentioned you were sending. Did I miss it?
I sent one on April 8th which I think you replied to.
Could you send it again? I have no record of it in my file of receiving or sending a private email from my account outside of Substack communications.
Yeah. I knew I was either stepping into a cow-pie or into something glorious. I am OK with knowing that I don't know the organic details.
