Biblical meekness is a quality of being humble, gentle, and submissive to God and others. It is not a sign of weakness or cowardice, but of strength and courage. It is a fruit of the Spirit that reflects the character and attitude of Jesus, who said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart” (Matthew 11:29). Meekness is also a virtue that brings blessings and rewards from God, such as inheriting the earth, finding rest for the soul, and receiving mercy and grace. Meekness is therefore an important and admirable quality for indwelt Christians to cultivate and practice.
Meek people have a special kind of power that comes from their humility, gentleness, and self-control. They are able to overcome evil with good, resist temptation, and endure hardship with patience and faith. They are also able to influence others with their kindness, respect, and wisdom. Meek people are not weak or passive, but strong and courageous in following God’s will and serving others. As Jesus said, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5).
