Some suggest that the "glory of God" is the purpose, goal or objective of the "grace of God“ – His Son. God is indeed glorified by the grace/Christ-expression of His all-glorious character, foremost by His expression in Jesus who is the "image of God the Father" (Col. 1:15; II Cor. 4:4). But God does not give His glory to another except through His Son (Isa. 42:8; 48:11). It must be His own self-expression and this expression is in sending His Son. Such expression of His glorious character cannot be interpreted to be a reason, a purpose or an objective of what He does in His Son, who is Grace, but rather it is an expression of Himself through His Son. God has no "reason for being" beyond Himself, since He is Being Himself in Christ.
