Since my father suffered severe pressure to live up to the expectations of family and church members, he decided to enlist in the military at 17 years of age. Five years later, he was in a war.
One of the greatest fears of the dying is that their legacy will be forgotten or shamed. It is our job as writers and teachers to keep our loved one's legacy living and breathing. Before my grandmother died, I was six months old; she said Grandpa wanted his preaching Bible to go to Stephen. Soon I will be writing about that Bible. The amazing story behind it was used by God to lead me to Jesus Christ. More coming. Lol.
Agreed. I am my father's father's grandson who reaped the reality of this verse. Before my grandmother died, I was six months old; she said Grandpa wanted his preaching Bible to go to Stephen. Soon I will be writing about that Bible. The amazing story behind it was used by God to lead me to Jesus Christ. More coming. Lol.
Thank you Stephen, I found this an emotional reminder of my father and his shortcomings. He was the town drunk in my youth, stole money to feed his gambling addiction and generally was a hurting man. I never got to the bottom of his pain. He died in my early twenties by smoking himself to a heart attack. A life wasted. Thanks be to Yahweh for my salvation.
Another sad story. However, you can redeem his story by sharing his life as a life lesson to your readers, family, relatives, and friends. That is what I committed to my father before he died. All the sad stories in the Bible that refuted God and Jesus were used by God to help the non-believers understand the dark reality and destination of the refuters of God.
Very touching. When my Mom was near passing, those were the very words I said to her. It’s ok Mom you can let go...Good words. Great tribute.

Fathers are so important! Those of us who grew up in intact families are so blessed, especially in this present time.
Proverbs 17:6 Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. (ESV)

Wow Stephen, what a lineage. Thank you for sharing. I have a great father and grandfather, the later went home to be with the Lord.
