Unfolding the Final Days and Hours
The love letter, the book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John, provides a vivid and real-to-life portrayal of the end times. It reveals the ultimate triumph of God over evil and the establishment of His eternal KINGDOM. This essay explores the final days and hours as depicted in Revelation, highlighting key events and their significance.
The Great Apostacy
The Great Apostasy, as described in the Bible, is a significant falling away from the faith and belief in Yeshua/Jesus that occurs just before the Rapture. This period is characterized by widespread deception, false teachings, and a general abandonment of true indwelt Christian beliefs. Jesus warned of this in Matthew 24:10-12, where He spoke of many falling away, betraying one another, and the love of many growing cold due to increased lawlessness.
The Apostle Paul also addressed this in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, stating that the day of the Lord will not come unless the rebellion, or apostasy, comes first. This apostasy is not merely a rebellion against societal norms but a deliberate departure from the core tenets of indwelt Christianity by those who once professed faith. It serves as a precursor to the revealing of the Antichrist and the subsequent events leading up to the Rapture, where true believers will be gathered to meet Yeshua in the air.
We are in this phase today!
The Rapturing of The Saints
The Rapture is a glorious event eagerly anticipated by believers, marking the moment when Yeshua returns in the air to gather His faithful followers. As described in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then, those who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
This divine gathering signifies the ultimate reunion with Yeshua, where believers will be transformed and receive their glorified bodies, free from the limitations of earthly existence. The Rapture represents the fulfillment of God’s promise to rescue His people from the coming wrath Jehovah will pour upon the Antichrist and his followers, ushering them into an eternal, joyous fellowship with their Savior. This event fills believers with hope and excitement, as they look forward to the day when they will be forever united with Yeshua in His glorious presence.
The Great Tribulation
The final days begin with the Great Tribulation, a period of intense suffering and persecution - oppression under the hand of the Antichrist. Revelation 6-18 describes a series of judgments, including the seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven bowls. These judgments bring about natural disasters, wars, and plagues, demonstrating God’s wrath against sin and rebellion. The Antichrist rises to power during this time, deceiving many and persecuting believers (Revelation 13).
The Second Coming of Christ
The climax of Revelation is the Second Coming of Christ. In Revelation 19, John describes Jesus returning on a white horse, leading the armies of heaven. He defeats the Antichrist and his forces at the Battle of Armageddon, establishing His reign on earth. This event marks the end of the Great Tribulation and the beginning of Christ’s millennial kingdom (Revelation 19:11-21).
The Millennial Reign
Following His return, Christ establishes a thousand-year reign on earth, known as the Millennium. During this period, Satan is bound and unable to deceive the nations (Revelation 20:1-3). The saints reign with Christ, experiencing a time of peace and righteousness. At the end of the Millennium, Satan is released for a short time, leading a final rebellion against God. This rebellion is swiftly crushed, and Satan is cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7-10).
The Final Judgment
The final hours of Revelation culminate in the Great White Throne Judgment. All the dead are resurrected and stand before God to be judged according to their deeds. Those whose names are not found in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire, experiencing eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:11-15). This judgment signifies the ultimate defeat of sin and death.
The New Heaven and New Earth
The book of Revelation concludes with the creation of a New Heaven and a New Earth. John sees the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, descending from heaven, adorned like a bride for her husband (Revelation 21:1-2). This city represents the eternal dwelling place of God with His people, where there is no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. The former things have passed away, and God declares, “Behold, I am making all things new” (Revelation 21:5).
The final days and hours in the book of Revelation reveal God’s ultimate plan for humanity and creation. Through the Rapture, the Great Tribulation, the Second Coming of Christ, the Millennial Reign, the Final Judgment, and the creation of a New Heaven and New Earth, God’s justice, mercy, and sovereignty are displayed. Believers can find hope and assurance in the promise of eternal life with God, free from sin and suffering - FOREVER & EVER.
