#Culture. The Fading of Old Glory.
Independence Day. We should fight to reestablish her root purpose. After all, she fought for us since her beginnings.
THE FADING OF OLD GLORY
When the United States flag (Old Glory) becomes worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled, it is time to replace it with a new flag, and the old flag should be "retired" with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation's flag. The traditional method of retirement is to incinerate the flag, but this does not mean that one should simply drop the entire flag (intact) into a fire.
OR SHOULD WE SAY
When the United States flag no longer represents freedom & the glory of God, when it is worn out, torn by cultural wars, faded in its meaning and purpose, or badly soiled by its self-induced sins, be retired as a superpower in the global populous?
The obvious answer is no! We should fight to reestablish her root purpose. After all, she fought for us since her beginnings. However, God’s methods of retiring a superpower happen to match the guidelines of retiring an American flag - burn it.
I FEAR FOR OLD GLORY
The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day—has been a national holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century - as early as the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted to establish our new country’s independence. Within two days, delegates from the thirteen strips, 13 colonies, adopted the Declaration of Independence. The historic document was mostly drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence. Before the woke generation, most citizens celebrated this fantastical day with festivities ranging from picnics, fireworks, parades, and concerts exemplifying the sounds of Old Glory. That is until the American citizens began burning her flag on the day marking her independence.
THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR
In April of 1775, the initial battles that exploded on the battlefields were for one simple reason - the early colonists desired independence from Great Britain’s tyrannical control. Husbands, fathers, young men, and new settlers took up arms and spilled their blood on the farmlands they endeavored to protect. As each heard the cry of the British are coming, the British are coming - they fought until victory was shouting the sounds of Old Glory. Amid these horrid battles, leaders began to draft a resolution for independence, which resulted in a near-unanimous vote. Without hesitation, the battle was won, and the Declaration of Independence birthed the United States of America.
THE WAR ON WOKEISM
In 1976, two hundred years after the price was paid for our freedom, a new culture began to dominate our founding freedoms - the democratic post-hippy delegations were formed, resulting in the now deep-state Democratic Party. Steady as she goes, this party slowly reformed how citizens viewed the American flag, our country’s freedoms, and the methods of governance. By the early 2000s, discussion hit the tables of liberal policymakers with the idea of handing our independence over to a global socialistic party. To the amazement of our “old-school” freedom fighters, we see this war in our daily news feeds. they call it THE WAR ON WOKEISM. The reality is it is a war to defend the Declaration of Independence.
THE WAR DECLARED ON GOD & COUNTRY
While there are many debates on the idealism of America being a “Christian Nation,” the facts are - this country was founded on the Mayflower Compact, which was packed with Christian ideologies directly connected to Jesus Christ and the Word of God. The majority of the colonist that fought in the American Revolution supported these doctrines entirely. As a result, God placed His favor on the United States of America, that is, until its citizens began removing God from its national representation. Now when we gaze at the hourglass of deconstruction, we see our God pulling His blessing from this country. Unless “We the People” repent of our sins, ultimately, the blessing will fade with Old Glory.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Cut me today, and I will bleed red, white, and blue. This is not because I am blindly devoted to a country. It IS because our Lord gave us a land of the free. As God protects His country Israel, we have the responsibility to protect a country that, minimally in the past, has defended our motherland (Israel).
As for me, Independence Day, the 4th of July, is not about fireworks and hotdogs. In my mind, it is a reminder to defend the land of the freedom to worship Jesus Christ as our founding leader—a leader who deeply cares about the price of freedom through blood, sweat, and tears.
From the roots of the rebellion to the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, explore this pivotal era in American history through our sweeping cinematic ‘short’ film, “Independence Day,” produced by Lion of Judah Films.
Watch now:
Speak out. Make a comment about the United States of America.
The United States is unique in that our Liberty is derived from God, not the government. Liberty from God is based on the accomplishments of Jesus Christ. Thus, the entire concept of Liberty is spiritual, not temporal. Liberty and its' blessings do not exist without our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Indeed, the capacity to really understand the rights and responsibilities of "liberty" is only found in those who have a personal relationship with the Savior. However, even those who reject God have been able to blindly experience the benefits of liberty in this land.
Hebrews 2:14–15
[14] Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
[15] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. (ESV)
The worldly critics scoff at this Truth, as they did when Jesus made the following declaration:
John 8:32–33
[32] and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” [33] They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” (ESV)
How many people today would declare that "…we are U.S. citizens, and have never been enslaved…"?
If you desire to REALLY be free then, verbally acknowledge Jesus as your lord (boss), and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (HE LIVES)! Then you will begin a life of Liberty!
