During the UN Award ceremony, I couldn't resist adding a touch of humor to the gravity of the occasion.
A few years back, I was honored with the opportunity to receive the United Nations’s annual leadership award, which required me to attend a fancy ballroom banquet, receive a brass plaque, and of course, give a speech.
As I was waiting for my moment in the “limelight,” the gentleman in charge of the UN’s policies of “world-peace,” was having problems loading his visual aids for his speech onto the house system. Since I always travel with my laptop fully loaded with my visuals for my speeches, they downloaded his presentation onto my hard drive, which turned out to be a divine glitch. Which meant, I have a copy of the UN’s plan for this proposal on my system.
As he gave his speech that unfolded their plan for global peace, which was to be released between 2025-2030, I could not believe what I was hearing - charts, diagrams, timelines, needed cultural movements, leaders, countries, all itemized in his presentation. Upon concluding his speech, he was to introduce me to the audience. In that introduction, was an assumption that I am one of the leaders that would assist in their “world-peace” policies.
I was shocked to the core and prayed, dear Lord, what am I to do with this?
