#24 Culture | Political Extremist
Dr. Stephen Phinney: Various extremist political movements have gained traction in communities worldwide - groups that often promote hate, intolerance, and violence, which starkly contrast Yeshua.
The global movement of political extremism has seen a significant rise in recent years, characterized by ideologies that promote hate, intolerance, and violence. These extremist groups often exploit societal divisions, religious differences, and economic uncertainties to gain followers, spreading their aggressive agendas across various regions.

The impact of such movements is far-reaching, contributing to increased polarization and destabilizing church-communities worldwide. Addressing this challenge requires a concerted effort to tap into the mind of Christ, understanding, and the doctrines of Biblical peace and evangelism.
Extremist Political Movements:
Various extremist political movements have gained traction in discussions and opinions worldwide. These groups typically promote hate, intolerance, and violence, which starkly contrast the teachings of Christ, and the principles found in the Bible. Understanding these movements through a biblical lens can help believers navigate the corruption and challenges they present.
I rarely take time to listen or read opinions that withhold a soft answer or the love of Yeshua.
The Adamic Nature of Extremist Movements
Indwelt writers and media producers can master the art of being straightforward while incorporating the love of Yeshua, delivering clear and impactful messages that resonate deeply with audiences while reflecting Christ's compassion, grace, and truth in every word and creation.
When Christian writers withhold the message of Yeshua's love in opinion pieces, they risk damaging Yeshua's reputation by presenting an incomplete or distorted view of His teachings. This omission can lead readers to misunderstand the core of Christ's message, which is rooted in love, grace, and redemption, ultimately diminishing the impact and authenticity of their writing.
This is the “why” I delete them in most cases!
Extremist political movements are characterized by their rigid ideologies and aggressive tactics. They seek to impose their views on others, often resorting to hateful rhetoric and violent actions. These movements thrive on division and fear, exploiting societal tensions to gain followers and influence. However, such behavior stands in direct opposition to the message of love, unity, and peace that is central to the Christian faith.
Biblical Teachings on Hate and Intolerance
The Bible unequivocally condemns hate and intolerance. In 1 John 3:15, it states, "Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him." Jesus taught that the greatest commandments are to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). This love extends to all people, including political extremists, regardless of their background or beliefs. The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) exemplifies this, showing that true neighborly love overrides ethnic, political, and cultural boundaries.
The Call to Peace and Reconciliation
Matthew 5:9 (ESV): "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
Could this mean that “Christians” who are not peacemakers are acting as sons of Satan?
Believers are called to be peacemakers and agents of reconciliation in a divided world. Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers…” The Apostle Paul echoes this in Romans 12:18, urging believers to "live at peace with everyone." Extremist movements, Christian or not, which often incite conflict and division, are contrary to the biblical mandate for peace and unity.
Could it be that self-proclaimed Christians who don't advance peace are inadvertently confessing a lack of true salvation, as the transformative power of Christ should compel believers to be peacemakers, reflecting His love and unity in their actions and interactions?
Responding to Extremist Movements
Christians are called to respond to extremist movements with wisdom, discernment, and you guess it, love. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. This means that our response must be grounded in spiritual principles, relying on God's strength and guidance. Prayer, seeking the Holy Spirit's discernment, and engaging in constructive dialogue are essential steps in addressing these challenges.
When believers fight flesh and blood rather than confronting the forces of darkness, they reveal a lack of Yeshua's indwelling love, as true believers of Christ are called to engage in spiritual warfare with His love, wisdom, and discernment, rather than succumbing to earthly conflicts.
When Christians are faced with unloving opinionates, it is critical for the believer to respond with the overwhelming love of Yeshua. Love acts as a powerful magnet, drawing others towards the person of love Himself, breaking down barriers, and creating opportunities for transformation and reconciliation.
Furthermore, believers must stand firm in the truth and counter false ideologies with the light of the Gospel. Ephesians 4:15 encourages us to "speak the truth in love," balancing firmness in our convictions with compassion for those who are led astray by extremist ideologies.
Extremist political movements that promote hate, intolerance, and violence are antithetical to the teachings of the Bible. As indwelt believers of Christ, we are called and mandated to love, pursue peace, and exemplify reconciliation. By embodying these principles and relying on the indwelling mind of Yeshua, Christians can effectively counter the influence of extremist movements and be beacons of light in a dark and divided world.
Through prayer, discernment, and unwavering commitment to the truth, we can navigate these challenges and uphold the mandates of the Kingdom of God.
Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV): "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Peace cannot guard our hearts unless we give peace away. By actively sharing and promoting peace in our interactions with others, we create an environment where peace can flourish within us, allowing it to serve as a protective and redemptive force in our lives.
