DISCIPLESHIP IN THE MAKING
77 Truths for the 7 Areas of Life
Understanding our identity in Christ is the cornerstone for becoming effective disciples in the faith journey. This chapter delves into the profound truth of who we are in Jesus and how this understanding shapes our mission to make disciples.
As believers, we are more than just individuals; we are part of the body of Christ, each with a unique role to play. We are new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17), no longer defined by our past but by God’s grace and love. We are children of God (John 1:12), adopted into His family through faith in Jesus Christ. We are heirs of God’s promises (Romans 8:17), recipients of His blessings, and participants in His divine plan.
Understanding these truths about our identity in Christ is crucial for discipleship. It shapes how we view ourselves, relate to others, and carry out the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). It reminds us that discipleship is not merely about following a set of religious practices; it’s about living out our faith in a way that reflects our identity in Christ.
This podcast will explore how our identity in Christ influences our approach to discipleship. We will examine how understanding Biblical terminology can deepen our comprehension of these spiritual truths. We will also discuss practical ways to live out our identity in Christ as we strive to make disciples.

Hudson Taylor originally used this term to define the exchange upon Salvation; we exchange our life for His. Many teachers of the Cross also use this term to explain an indwelt believer appropriating their co-death, burial, and resurrection with Christ. One of the most common Scriptures used in this exchange is Galatians 2:20, “Not I, but Christ.” Truth being said, all believers in Christ receive the exchanged life upon the moment of their Salvation.
