#19 Culture | Cannabis Culture
Dr. Stephen Phinney: Reflecting on my Christian Hippie days, I realize it was a mix of demonology and deceived intentions. Cannabis was Satan's hook.
Coming in at number nine of the top ten cultural movements of 2025 is Cannabis Culture. As society continues to become more depraved, the acceptance and normalization of cannabis products are becoming more widespread. This movement has sparked conversations around legalization, health benefits, and the impact on various industries.
It's not just about the use of cannabis but also the cultural shift towards a more open and informed dialogue about its role in our lives. From lifestyle choices to entrepreneurial ventures, Cannabis Culture is leaving a significant mark on the cultural landscape of 2025.

The history of pot smoking is a fascinating topic through time and across cultures.
Cannabis use dates back thousands of years, with some of the earliest evidence found in ancient China and Taiwan. It was used in religious and spiritual ceremonies. By 2000 BC, cannabis had spread to the Indian subcontinent, where it became integral to Ayurvedic Hindu rituals. The ancient Greeks and Romans also used cannabis for its mind-altering effects. In the Islamic Golden Age, scholars documented its various uses in preparing for battle - diminishing fear & numbing pain.
The plant journeyed to Africa and the Americas via trade routes, where it was woven into the cultural and spiritual fabric of indigenous communities. In the early 20th century, cannabis faced increasing scrutiny and prohibition, particularly in Western countries. However, the latter part of the 20th and early 21st centuries saw a resurgence of interest through the Hippie movement, again claiming its mystical properties.
Marijuana, or cannabis, contains a variety of chemical compounds. The most well-known are cannabinoids, which include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the primary psychoactive compound responsible for the "high" sensation, while CBD is known for its potential therapeutic benefits - noting the CBD compounds classically lead to experimental use of THC.
THC AND GLOBAL DISEASES
When tetrahydrocannabinol enters the brain, it binds to cannabinoid (endocrine central nerve system) CB1 receptors, particularly in areas responsible for memory, pleasure, coordination, and time perception. This interaction can lead to altered sensory perception, euphoria, and impaired short-term memory. THC also attacks the CB2 receptors, retarding the peripheral organs and cells associated with the immune system - causing open reception to bacteria-based viruses. When the use of THC is widely used within a culture, the spread of diseases frequently becomes uncontrollable.
While the initial use of THC enhances a false sense of peace and tranquility, the withdrawal effects cause the brain to be agitated and instigate fright and fight through the hypothalamus and prefrontal cortex. In this, we discovered the meaning behind the documented studies on “why” cannabis users are known for being violent when not “high.” Since users become self-aware of this kickback, it creates an addictive pattern to self-treat their anger outbursts by increasing their usage of THC.
A SPECIAL NOTE: I am not just a researcher of this movement; I come from a background of heavy use of THC (pot) in my younger years. After Christ freed me from this addiction, I spent many years meticulously analyzing the chemical breakdown of this substance and its long-term effects.
For example. I have two primary diagnoses I deal with daily - heart failure and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), which is my immune system attacking the nerve sheaths, leaving me partially paralyzed. In both cases, I have been told by my doctors that my youthful use of THC is directly connected to my present condition. Since THC attacks the immune system, I, without question, believe the two are connected.
THC AND THE DEMONIC WORLD
As we have noted in the early cultures using THC for spiritual reasons, the problematic ideology of its use in our culture today is no different.
God created us with a cortex, the outermost layer of the brain. The cortex is responsible for keeping us conscious and suppressing historical experiences and data from our past. When we fall into REM sleeping, the cortex thins out and releases memories filed deep within our brains, thus releasing pictorial images mixed with present memories. Some have pleasant dreams, while others are plagued with “nightmares.” Most nightmares contain violence of some sort. After waking, the cortex thickens and suppresses the subconscious data from entering our present reality - noting it was only a dream.
The chemical tetrahydrocannabinol immediately thins out the cortex while you are still awake. Subconscious data is released while you are still conscious, causing hallucinations—visual daydreams. In this, we discover the rhythm and reason religions have used this drug to enhance their spiritual journeys. However, there is a darker side.
God also designed our brains via the cortex to diminish our ability to see the spirit world. While most believers know that a demonic world is active around us, it is not God’s pleasure for us to see them, and for a good reason. However, THC is known for relaxing the barrier between “reality," what is seen and what is not seen, which causes hallucinations - to dream while awake. The reason religions and cults have used this drug through the ages is because of what I just stated - it connects them to the spirit world.
THE PROPHETIC USE OF THC
Visualizing the details in the Book of Revelation or in books like Daniel in the Old Testament graphically depicts images that align with what is seen in the unseen world. While we know that John and Daniel were not taking THC, God has the prerogative to expose the unseen world in dreams and visions. Tetrahydrocannabinol is Satan’s way to expose his world to humans against their will. In their hallucinations, they may see global peace or the waring of demonic beings in real time. People who use drugs frequently speak about seeing demons attacking them or, worse yet, pushing them to end their lives.
THE OVERREACH OF PHARMAKEIA
Pharmakeia is a Greek word in the New Testament, meaning "sorcery" or "witchcraft." The term is derived from "pharmakon," which means "drug" or "spell-giving potion." In the biblical context, pharmakeia always refers to the use of magic, potions, and enchantments and is associated with the dark actions of a sorcerer.
Questions: Is the world of pharmaceuticals out of control today? Is drug trafficking out of control? Could there be a connection between this global industry and the prophecies of God? Might it be that Satan himself is behind this overreach? And finally, could the 2025 Cannabis Culture movement be directly connected to the works of Satan? Folks, the answers are too elementary to answer.
I would love to hear from you on this one. You might try to defend the “positive” use of cannabis, but in my mind, it is an attempt to defend the “good” side of the Tree of Knowledge. What are your thoughts?
Reflecting on my Christian Hippie days, I realize it was a mix of demonology and deceived intentions. The act of smoking pot, thinking it would bring me closer to Yeshua/Jesus, was steeped in a form of blending darkness with light. It became clear that genuine spiritual connection and growth don't come from external substances but from the power of Christ within me - no drugs needed. It was a crucial lesson that reaffirmed the importance of authenticity, and that true spirituality is only found in Yeshua - alone.
Dr. Phinney, a timely article. I was "stoned" on marijuana for likley 40 years. finally quitting completely in 2002. That plant stole from me, including money, energy, time, and my soul. I am so glad to be 100% sober in all things. God and His Son are better than any imbibed substace, even if sobriety is tough. W.E.W.
Marijuana as cannabis which is specifically bred for it's thc and is laced with often LSD acid, and other unknown psychoactive substances, even organic bush weed are all highly dangerous causing altered states of consciousness that obviously opens doorways to demonic spirits and is a well known cause of psychoses. It also causes giggling and an increase of the lust of sexual desire. It also causes a psychological dependancy and reliance upon it.
As a true Christ Jesus indwelt and Holy spirit infilled servant would not ever consume. When I was drawn back to Jesus Christ, my heart was so profoundly pierced at my absolutely wretched deplorable disgusting state of having been a vile despicable sinner and having a sin nature, that it made me literally vomit, & the fact that I broke my father in heaven's heart that ultimately broke and shattered my own heart, not only had I hurt him but I had hurt others as well as my own self, and how I had
trodden under foot the Son of God, and had accounted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and was despising the Spirit of his grace. That only Jesus could take on board my sins and forgive me and set me free. He gave me the ability to understand that Jesus showed by & through his own life as the word and God made flesh as the second Adam he was tempted in every way but did not sin that is also part of our inheritance in Him to live as overcomers through his very example. Jesus wanted to clean up & transform my life radically, so I could serve him without hindrances. Putting my complete faith in Jesus Christ as saviour and kinsman redeemer in all God's truths, He gave me the amazing gift of saving grace and his inheritance of righteousness to bring forth fruits that befits repentence in helping me by giving me the power and strength to overcome and bring forth Jesus' righteousness, through the power of his precious blood to not only cleanse me from my such sins but is so powerful enough to root them out to no longer be influenced nor being bound imprisoned to them & to be reborn & baptised in the Holy spirit, that's why we receive the Holy spirit is to help us be able to live a life to be pleasing to Him, Jesus sacrificial crucified life and death then resurrection and ascension wasn't for nothing but to save us from our sins, to defeat the devil and nullify his works and our self works, in not only our spirit but soul, our will mind & emotions to our very actions, to be able to be set apart & undergo maturing through the process of sanctification and to be holy and Jesus and God's holy spirit came to dwell in my temple too, from my holy of holies to the holy the inner courtyard to the outer courtyard my very body. He started dealing with all the sins I was living in and the first thing he wanted to deal with & said to me that I must immediately not only repent from was smoking weed, but to turn completely away from it & stop smoking it, as it is a drug and he hates and abhors drugs, as they are all absolutely connected to enabling and inviting demonic spirits to possess and oppress, come in and inhabit you and infect your mind and thinkingabd to control you. Our creator Almighty God Heavenly father in and through Jesus Christ loves us knows what is best for us as He created us in the first place.
He delivered and set me free me from not only smoking weed but nicotine-cigarettes and I would smoke up to 150 to more a day! And then from fornicating, masturbation, he dealt with each and every one of my bondages and from all my wrong thoughts to truly set me free, to make me a new creation in Christ. He emancipated me from 'Babylon' and 'Egypt'=the world, satan's system & to die, be crucified to the world & it to be crucified to me and die be buried with Christ to enter into true resurrection life, die to self so I could embark on walking according to the spirit and not to fulfil the desires of the carnal lusts of the flesh, but to beat my body & lead it as a slave not the other way around, one of the fruits of the holy spirit is self control, and Jesus calls us to deny self and pick up our cross daily to deny self, as the works of the flesh are in complete opposition to how our father in heaven created us to be and to live in such a way that will bring Him honour and glorify Him. He delivered me from the enemy the evil one and taught me how to resist the devil so he would flee from me and Huw to resist temptation, to get on my knees and pray to overcome and not enter into sinning, even to the point of as it were shedding blood, that Jesus in me was stronger and more powerful than to give in to temptation and the God I loved and served was all powerful though I was weak Jesus I me was strong & all those past sins were all bondages keeping me in a prison of my own making and choices, that I no longer needed to be subjected to, as I had been feeding to the desires of my corrupt pathetic weak flesh. He helped develop within me the mind of Christ Jesus, my heart was circumcised from the carnal flesh it was cut away and removed. The old nature was replaced by the new nature in Christ.
We have to die in Christ to be reborn in Him in his character nature image and likeness. To be born of his seed. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. John 12:24-26
And these are they which are sown on good ground, such as hear the Word and receive it and bring forth fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” Mark 4:20
Luke 8:11-18
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:4
Matthe/Mark/Luke/John
Galatians chapter 5
Romans
1/2/3 John
Whole bible.
But truly going to seek Jesus as the only way the only truth and the life and only way to the father, many search the scriptures for in them they think they will receive eternal life and yet they all testify of Him, but sadly many never come to Jesus to receive
His life and indwelling.
It is only the seed that dies gets buried gets broken to bring forth shoots to the light the light of the true kingdom of God's heavenly kingdom and of Jesus as the light that came into the world to be filled with his light by keeping our eye single and submitting to him as our master and making him Lord and King, seeking Him first and his kingdom of righteousnes, abiding in Jesus in our own day to day lives that then then grows and can bring forth mature healthy fruits from and if the spirit.
John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Matthew 12:43-45
